Getting Started

RETScreen is only available to users with Microsoft Windows systems or .NET Framework 4.7.2 or higher. MacOS users will need to install and use a Windows virtual machine on their Mac computer. Information about Windows virtual machines may be obtained from Worldwide Computer Requirements: Mac Users page.

RETScreen is an executable file and requires administrative access to run on a device. Students without administrative access should reach out to their instructor for guidance.

Step 1

Locate Download

Navigate to RETScreen. Once at the RETScreen home page, select Click here to download RETScreen Expert.

Step 2

Launch Downloaded File

The download may take several minutes depending on your internet and computer capabilities. Launch the RETScreenExpertInstaller.exe once it is finished downloading.

Step 3

Select Language.

Select a language.

Step 4

Continue

Select Next to continue.

Step 5

Terms & Agreements

Read and accept the license agreement, and select Next to continue.

Step 6

Installation Location

Verify the installation path for the file - it is recommended to leave the default destination path provided by the installer. Select Next to continue.

Step 7

Add Account

If prompted, provide administrative permission to install the file. The screen will display the installation project and move to the next step automatically. Select Finish when complete.

Step 8

Finish

RETScreen is now installed on your device! Launch RETScreen Expert to begin using the tool from your Start Menu or by searching your installed programs.
