Instructor Guidance

Instructor Guidance includes information on:

  • Instructor Resources
  • Student Submissions

These provide a guide for instructor tools and resources, how to manage student assignments and submissions, and how to use Canvas SpeedGrader with New WileyPLUS.

Never change a due date or point values from the WileyPLUS interface; always use Canvas!

Access Instructor Resources

Wiley Instructor Resources allows you to not only access the eTextbook and other learning aids, but also includes instructor resources. If necessary, visit the Getting Started page to learn how to access Wiley Course Resources in Canvas.

Overview of Wiley Instructor Resources

The image below displays the types of resources you'll find in the Wiley Instructor Resources. Not all chapters or textbooks will have these resources, but you can read a summary of each below.

  1. Video: These are video tutorials aligned with specific sections within the chapter.
  2. Skills & Instructions: These vary and are not common in many chapters. But they can include links to external resources, additional guidance for content, etc.
  3. Document: Documents with various information for your reference - this includes Word documents and image files for you to use in announcements, discussions, etc.

  4. Note: Chapters will include test bank answers for WileyPLUS-created questions, which are not necessarily in line with the questions the course developer wrote or chose for assignments/quizzes. Regardless, do NOT share those documents with students!

  5. Reference (Not Shown): Materials to help in evaluating student skills on a particular topic or tool.

How do I view New WileyPLUS submissions?

There are 2 ways to view submissions: view in WileyPLUS interface or view in Canvas Speedgrader.

View Submissions in Canvas Speedgrader

Because New WileyPLUS is directly embedded in Canvas, the Canvas SpeedGrader functionality can be used to view/reset student submission(s), rescore the assignment, and leave comments.

The student's submission(s) will appear in the SpeedGrader just as any other assignment. From there, you can click on specific questions to see the student's response(s).

How to Edit New WileyPLUS assignments?

Never change a due date or point values from the WileyPLUS interface; always use Canvas!

You might see warning message(s) at the top of any assignment page; these warnings may prompt you to add a due date or adjust the points in your question set.

These messages are posted automatically by the vendor and are NOT applicable to schools that use Canvas (like ERAU!); disregard these notices.

If you do need to make a change to the assignment, you can edit the assignment due date in Canvas and this will automatically sync with WileyPlus.

Need Help Giving an Extension? Visit the How do I change the due date settings for individual students? section of this page.

How do I change the due date settings for individual students?

Because New WileyPLUS is directly embedded in Canvas, due dates parameters can be adjusted just like a normal Canvas assignment. This includes assigning to the entire class or assigning to an individual student.

By default, the due dates for New WileyPLUS assignments should already be accurate based on the template and course creation process. However, if needed, utilize the Canvas guides below to help you adjust a due date for a New WileyPLUS assignment or quiz:

  • How do I assign an assignment to everyone in a course?
  • How do I assign an assignment to an individual student?

Important Note

Do not use New WileyPLUS to directly alter due dates with option menu crossed out

Extensions on WileyPLUS assignments should be given through Canvas, NOT in the WileyPLUS interface. Changing it in the WileyPLUS interface can cause issues.

Although you may see the option to reset the assignment or extend its due date next to individual students’ names when viewing an assignment in WileyPlus, this is not recommended. Instead, you only need to grant an extension or adjust the due date in Canvas, and this will automatically carry over.
