Step 2

Use a Template

For this guide, we will be showing the Newsletter template. If you are using a template to start, select Start editing this Sway. If you selected New blank Sway, skip to Step 3.

Step 3

Choose Editing Mode

Storyline and Design Mode Lettered A and B respectively

There are two different editing modes - Storyline and Design:

  • Storyline editing is modifying the content in the Sway project (i.e. text, photos, videos, etc.).
  • Design editing is modifying how the content will look (i.e. color scheme, typography, textures, etc.).

You can switch between these two modes by selecting the mode in the banner.

Use the tabs in the menu to learn more about the editing modes.

Step 1

Enter Design Mode

To enter Design mode, select Design, which will show you a preview of your project, then Styles, which will show a side panel of design options.

Step 2

Explore Styles Panel

There are several options in the Styles panel.

  1. Select Remix! to let Sway select a random design. You may select this as many times as you like until you get a design you like.
  2. This will change how the information moves as a user scrolls down the page.
  3. Select Customize to change the design with custom colors, typography, and textures.
  4. These are pre-designed templates.
