Using H5P

To utilize H5P.org, you must first create an account. To create your account, visit the User Account Creation page. If you need additional support for a different content type in H5P.org, check out the vendor's Tutorials for Authors page for detailed guides.

Note: If you wish to delete your account, visit the My Account Page directly and find Cancel Account at the bottom of the page.

Step 1

Log In & Create

Once you are logged in select My Content.

Then select Add Content.

Step 2

Find Course Presentation Tool

Find the Course Presentation tool. You can do this by scrolling to the tool or entering it in the search bar. Select Details.

Step 3

You will be taken to a page with information on the content type. Select Use to open the Course Presentation editor.

You can customize your presentation slides with a variety of features. For more information on what each of these tools do you can visit the Tools tab of this guide.

Step 5

Using Course Presentation Tool

As you select a slide tool, the editor interface will open. Each tool looks a little different, but most of them have a similar structure. The most common feature is the Text tool. Format your text using the rich text editor and select Done when finished.

Step 6

Edit Behavior Settings

Once you've added all your slides, you can edit the Behavior settings. This is an optional step. The settings allow you to control the interactive pieces of the presentation (multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-blank questions, etc.)

Step 7

Adjust H5P Options

Next, you'll be able to adjust options such as the publishing status, the folder in which your presentation is saved, any collaborators you would like to add, any organization you would like to share your presentation with and the LTI settings if this will be used for an assignment.

When you are finished creating your presentation, select Save.

Step 8

Preview Your Presentation

The next screen shows you a preview of your presentation. You also have the option to Edit your presentation from this screen.

Step 9

Share Your Presentation

To share your course presentation, copy the URL from the toolbar. You can then use the link to submit the assignment in Canvas.

Tools for H5P

Below are the tools that you can use to create a presentation in H5P

    Insert text box icon for H5P Text: Adds a Textbox

    Insert hyperlink icon for H5P Hyperlink: Creates a link to a URL

    Insert image icon for H5P Image: Inserts an image from your computer

    Insert shape icon for H5P Shapes: Insert a shape

    Insert video icon for H5P Video: Insert a video from your computer, URL, or YouTube link

    Insert anchor icon for H5P Anchor: Creates a link to the next slide, previous slide, or a specific slide number

    Insert audio icon for H5P Audio: Creates audio on a slide

    Create fill in the blank question icon for H5P Fill in the Blanks: Creates a “fill-in-the-blanks” question

    Create single answer question icon for H5P Single Choice Set: Creates a single answer question

    Create multiple choice question icon for H5P Multiple Choice: Creates a multiple-choice question

    Create true/false question icon for H5P True/False Question: Creates a true/false question

    Create drag and drop question icon for H5P Drag and Drop: Creates a drag and drop question

    Create summary question icon for H5P Summary: Creates a summary question (i.e., Which statement is correct?)

    Create drag the words question icon for H5P Drag the Words: Creates a drag the words question (i.e., Put the words in the correct places in the sentence)

    Create mark the words question icon for H5P Mark the Words: Creates a mark the words question (i.e., Mark all of the verbs in the sentence)

    Insert continuous text box icon for H5P Continuous Text: Inserts a continuous text box. This is to be used for longer texts (i.e., articles) that will be distributed over multiple slides

    Insert exportable text area icon for H5P Exportable Text Area: Inserts a text box where a user viewing the presentation can take and export their notes

    Insert interactive video icon for H5P Interactive Video: Inserts an interactive video

    Insert record audio icon for H5P Record Audio: Inserts a question that requires students to record their audio in the question

    Insert image choice icon for H5P Image Choice: Inserts a question that uses images for answers

    Paste icon for H5P Paste: Pastes any H5P tools that you copied

    Add a slide icon for H5P Add New Slide: Adds a slide

    Duplicate a slide icon for H5P Clone Slide: Duplicates a slide

    Change slide backgroung icon for H5P Slide Background: Changes the slide background to an image or a color

    Move current slide left icon for H5P Move Slide Left: Moves the current slide to the left in the presentation

    Move current slide right icon for H5P Move Slide Right: Moves the current slide to the right in the presentation

    Delete current slide icon for H5P Delete Slide: Deletes the current slide
