Figma encourages collaboration throughout the entire design and development process. Invite collaborators to your files when you:

  • Start to brainstorm a new project with your team
  • Need input from your copywriter or product marketing team
  • Need to share work in progress with a manager or client
  • Want feedback on a prototype during user testing
  • Handing off final designs to a developer

Share Files in your Drafts, or files from teams. Choose what permissions collaborators have on your Files. To share a Figma design, follow the steps below.

Step 1

Share

Sharing with Figma button highlighted for selection

Select Share in the top right of your Figma project.

Step 2

Share Settings

Share settings page with managing files, invitations, and sharing links

Set your share settings.

  1. View which project the file is in. From here you can move files between Drafts, teams, projects, and accounts, if applicable.
  2. Invite collaborators to the project.
  3. View the team access: how members of your team can interact with the file, if applicable.
  4. Define how people can find and access your file.
  5. Define what level of access those collaborators will have.
  6. See who the Owner of the file is.
  7. See which collaborators have explicit access to the file.
  8. Select the arrow to update permissions for each collaborator.
  9. Select Copy link to copy a link to the File. If you have a specific Frame selected, you can also choose Link to selected frame. Use this option to get a shareable link for Canvas course submission; your instructor will be able to view the product as a guest viewer, and not need to sign in to see it.
  10. Select Get embed to copy the embed code.
  11. View the advanced settings to Allow viewers to copy, share, or export from the file.

Important Note: The Figma free version only allows you to invite one other editor, for a total of 2 editors on the document. To have more editors, you'll need to apply for educational access to Figma Professional. You can provide a URL to as many viewers as you wish, including classmates and your instructor(s).
