Pearson Resources

General Resources

Available resources vary by class. Possible options include:

  • Pearson eText: Electronic version of the textbook. The digital textbook can include videos and interactive content. Once you open the textbook, use the Table of Contents to navigate.
  • Multimedia Library: Interactive tools like videos, crosswords, flash cards, presentations, chapter data files, and more.
  • Chapter Resources: Lists Multimedia Library by chapter.
  • Dynamic Study Module: Optional study modules in addition to required study plans.
  • Tools for Success: Guides, graphing calculator lessons, and engaging review tools.

Learning Aids

There are several types of Learning Aids that may be available to you during your homework assignments. Their purpose is to help you complete homework questions. Learning aids vary on the question type. The possible options include:

  • Help Me Solve This: Feedback and hints during each step in the exercise.
  • View an Example: Additional, more detailed examples of the problem.
  • Animation: Often available for graphing questions.
  • Video: A mini-lecture solution for a similar exercise.
  • Textbook: Links directly to the e-text where the type of exercise is discussed.
  • Ask My Instructor: sends an email with a link to the exact question you are working on; expect to hear back within 48 hours.

To access the learning aids, select Question Help on any homework assignment.

Course Specific Information for MATH and STAT Courses

The following information applies to MATH 143. If taking any other Pearson Direct Integrated courses, reach out to your instructor with any course specific questions.

Homework Policies

  • Homework assignments have no time limit other than the due date. They will be available for two weeks beginning the first day of the previous module. For Example: Module 4 homework is available from the first day of module 3 and due on the last day of module 4.
  • The (overlapping) two-week window provides ample time to get 100% by working on the easy-for-you or already-known exercises early and devoting attention to the more challenging exercises that need deeper study or engagement with the instructor and resources.

Quiz & Test Policies

  • Although the presentation of questions for quizzes & tests appears to be the same as for homework, there are important differences:
    • Available only during the module in which they are assigned
    • No access to the Learning Aids
    • Time Limit - once you start, you must finish
    • Single attempt for tests; two attempts for quizzes
    • NO access to the tests after submission; ONE opportunity to review the quizzes but only immediately following the submission

  • Important Notes: Be sure to take note of the time limit before starting the assignment; if there is an internet interruption, you should be able to re-enter as long as it is not past the due date. Check the time zone! Default is Eastern Time (ET).

Show Your Work Assignments

  • Tests are supported with a graded Show Work assignment in Canvas.
  • Write out all of your thinking for every computation exercise on paper. You are communicating with your instructor about how you understood the problem; getting the right answer isn't the only thing you demonstrate through the test. It is on this assignment that your instructor has the opportunity to give feedback and can use for the awarding of partial credit where Pearson did not give you any.
  • See the assignment instructions for how to submit them in Canvas.
  • Recommendation: Use a homework exercise or a quiz to test your technical ability to prepare the Show Work document. You only have 30 minutes after finishing the Pearson test to make this submission.
