Create

There are several components to creating a Figma design:

  • Editor Toolbar
  • Design Panel
  • Prototype Panel
  • Inspect Panel

While this area of the guide is designed to help you get started with the Figma design space, the tool is very robust. You may want to also review additional Figma support and design documents:

  • Figma for Beginners (YouTube playlist)
  • Figma Community
  • Figma Support and User Guides

Note: Images and icons are not automatically available in Figma libraries. You'll need to either utilize the Figma community or import images/icons from the internet. Copyright laws allow the use of images and icons for educational purposes. Any product mockups you make in Figma will be subject to copyright laws if you choose to use it beyond classroom use.

Figma’s prototyping features allow you to create interactive flows that simulate how a user may interact with your designs.

For more information about the tools available in the Prototype Panel, refer to Figma's Design + Prototype Panel Help Page.

Inspect Panel

The Inspect tab lets you and your collaborators view and copy the existing code and values for your designs. Copy single line items or entire sets of values to make the development process easier. The Inspect Panel is dynamic and changes for each selection. For more information about the tools available in the Inspect Panel, refer to Figma's Inspect Panel Help Page.
