Hardware Requirements

To support your academic success, Embry-Riddle Worldwide recommends purchasing a new desktop or laptop computer at the start of your program. Discount opportunities for computers are available through our preferred vendor, Dell.

ERAU does NOT recommend the use of mobile devices such as Android or iPhones, tablets, or Chromebooks for taking or teaching classes at ERAU. They have limited functionality and may not allow you to install or use tools required for some classes.

This table has the minimum and recommended hardware requirements needed to successfully complete your Worldwide courses. Mac users will need to visit the Mac Virtualization page of this guide for additional requirements. For most programs, we highly recommend that your computer be no more than 3 years old in order to properly run course-specific software.

Canvas and EagleVision using Zoom Requirements

Online course content and activities are hosted in the Canvas learning management system. Review the Canvas Computer Specifications to ensure your computer meets the minimum requirements. If you are enrolled in an EagleVision course, the Zoom System Requirements page lists the minimum requirements for running the virtual meeting software.

  • A quad-core processor or higher is recommended for screen sharing in EagleVision.
  • To use the EagleVision (Zoom) virtual backgrounds, be sure to review the Zoom Virtual Background guide. A green screen or additional system configurations may be needed; more information is available in the Zoom Virtual Background System Requirements guide.
