Grading Group Assignments

Group assignments can either be graded by assigning the same grade to the entire group or by assigning different grades to each individual student in the group. This is predetermined in your course template.

Assigning the same grade for the entire group

Instructors can view a group's progress and discussions by visiting the group's Home page. Select People from the course navigation menu and choose the name of the group set. Using the three dots to the right of the group's name, choose Visit Group Homepage.

Group assignments will be graded in SpeedGrader. If the assignment is set to assign the same score to every student, you will see group names instead of student names. Select the group name to review the assignment, the associated rubric, and enter grades and comments for everyone in the group at the same time.

Assigning the different grades to individual students

If the assignment was set to Assign Grades to Each Student Individually or if this is a group Discussion, you will see each student listed individually in SpeedGrader. When grading these group assignments, you will have the option to send comments to this student only or send comments to the whole group.
