Group Designators

Select a designator from the menu to learn more.

GRP

This is a group assignment or discussion; these are the deliverable assignments students must complete. This designator would appear on the specific assignment to which students must submit group work.

When the assignment is created, the designer already enables the group discussion or assignment setting. For these assignments, instructors must:

  1. Create group sets
  2. Create groups within the sets
  3. Assign students to the groups
  4. Edit the assignment to assign the activity to the group sets

By default, the assignment settings are set to provide the same score to every student in that group. You can provide different grades to each student by either:

  1. Changing the assignment setting to Assign Grades to Each Student Individually
  2. Manually changing the grade in the Gradebook

** Note: Be sure to review the Information for Instructors module in your course to understand how your course should be set up. Consult with your college representative before making any changes to settings within your course.

GRC

This is a group collaboration activity. For these activities, students will be put into groups for collaboration purposes only. The setting to make these group discussions or assignments is NOT enabled.

GRS

This is used to identify when the instructor needs to have groups created. This will allow instructors and RCTLE to identify when groups should be created throughout a live term. This designator is usually attached to the overview or objective pages, at the beginning of the module the groups should be set up in.
